Tchaikovsky Concerto - Finale
live at the Hollywood Bowl

Wicks’s few commercial recordings were long the stuff of legends but till recently unavailable on CD.

Wicks's most famous recording, that of the Sibelius Concerto, was released on the Biddulph label in 2005, along with a  fabulous collection of short pieces ranging from Sarasate to Shostakovich, and the Berg-inspired miniature concerto by the Norwegian composer Fartein Valen.

In 2008, to commemorate Wicks’s 80th birthday, Simax released a collection of broadcast performances spanning over four decades: Glazunov Concerto, Vaughan Williams “The Lark Ascending”, Brahms G Major Sonata (1st movement), Brustad Solo Suite, Sarasate Malaguena.

Music & Arts released “The Art of Camilla Wicks”: a famous 1953 Carnegie Hall performance of the Beethoven Concerto with Bruno Walter, movements of the Tchaikovsky and Sibelius concertos and Bloch “Nigun”.

In 2000, in collaboration with Norwegian Radio, Simax released live performances of the Norwegian composer Bjarne Brustad’s 4th Concerto (1968) and the Walton Concerto (1985).

There is much more on the way. Doremi is planning in 2009-2010 a series of releases from Wicks’s private collection which will cover a vast range of music, from an electrifying Tchaikovsky Concerto at the Hollywood Bowl to rarely played works such as Germaine Tailleferre’s haunting Sonata, as well as many short pieces.
